To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, today we are recognizing one the most expensive buildings in the world currently being built in Ireland. It has been billed as “the most significant capital investment project ever undertaken in healthcare in Ireland”. The Ireland National Children’s hospital is on pace to cost a whopping $2.8 billion USD. At that price point it is only four spots behind the One World Trade Center in the list of most expensive buildings ever. The hospital is projected to be opened in 2023. It is planned to be seven stories high with 6,150 hospital rooms and include an underground parking garage with 1,000 spaces. Children and young people that use this hospital will have access to a broad number of consultant specialists for pediatrics including adult burns, plastics and reconstructive units, adult hematology services, cancer services and specialist laboratory, diagnostic services and radiation treatment.
