RSW Continuing to Soar Past YTD Travel Records

The holiday season is here bringing a travel rush into full swing. With travelers coming to and from Florida, RSW International Airport has some tips for those who plan to travel by sky. RSW places importance on travelers arriving early seeing as this time of year is one of the busiest times for airport traffic across the country. Another tip is for travelers to frequently check with their air carrier to see if there are any changes to their flight schedule due to inclement weather forecasted at their destination or connecting airports.
RSW has noted that they have already begun to experience an increase in passenger traffic as of November 17, 2021. Air travel is expected to be at higher rates than it was last season. According to Gulfshore Business, AAA expects 53.4 million Americans will be flying this season to see their loved ones. WINK NEWS is reporting that Sunday, November 28th will be the busiest day for travel. Since it is the Sunday after Thanksgiving, most people will be heading to the airport to fly home and return to work.
October has been the sixth consecutive month that RSW announced record-breaking passenger traffic, with Southwest once again being the traffic leader. Throughout October, a record-breaking number of 769,524 passengers traveled through RSW; October travel was up 84% compared to October 2020 and 20% more than October 2019. With the way the passenger traffic is heading, RSW expects to soar past its 2019 record of 10.2 million airline passengers.
